THE UNIVERSE® STORY

Universe Corporation was founded in 1979 to engineer, fabricate and distribute Metal Composite Material (MCM). Universe was one of the original Alucobond® distributors. During the early 80's, the Universe® 2000 rout and return attachment system was developed, tested and patented. This attachment system combined with its engineering and fabrication know-how, became the core of a business that has evolved into Universe Corporation becoming one of the leading fabricators of MCM in the United States.

In the early 1990's the company embarked on a growth plan to expand its marketing, product and service offerings. In 1992, the Universe® 2222 rout and return deep reveal system was developed to answer the architects' aesthetic requirements for the MBTA South Station Transportation Center in Boston. This project is the single largest application of composite panel in the United States. It involves the use of 550,000 square feet of panel that was fabricated into 22,000 panels. In 1994, the Universe® 4000 rout and return dry set system was developed. The 4000 System is generally specified when a higher performance wall system is required.

In the late 1990's and early 2000's the rainscreen concept became widely accepted in the United States as a method for exterior wall construction.  Universe responsed by developing the Universe® 6000 rainscreen in 1999 and the Universe® 2000R in 2002.  The Universe® 2000R has quickly become our most popular attachment system.

In 1993 the company expanded its activities to include the distribution of other high-end cladding and daylighting products such as Centria, Kalwall, and Solatube. The company has since started its own installation business. This activity is focused in Illinois and Missouri.

In 2002 Universe installed its first Trespa Meteon project and became on of the first three Certified Trespa Meteon (CTM) fabricators in the nation in 2006.

The company operates in St. Louis, Missouri. It has an engineering staff that has 300 years of experience in the exterior cladding/curtainwall business. The engineering department is one of the main strengths of the company and is totally CAD functional. The credentials and years of experience of the sales and administrative staff are unparalleled in the industry. The company has fabricated over 15 million square feet of architectural wall cladding. The combination of years of experience, facilities and proven products makes Universe Corporation an outstanding candidate to supply your archtiectural cladding needs.
