UNIVERSE® 6000 rainscreen system

E-mail Print

The UNIVERSE® 6000 is hi-load rainscreen system.  While it has a heavier set of extrusions, the Universe® 6000 is comparable in design concept to other rainscreen MCM systems in the market place.

The male-female engagement of extrusions provides for thermal expansion and contraction of the panel but does require progressive installation and does not allow individual panel removability without disturbing adjacent panels and without impacting system integrity.

Pressure-equalization is achieved through ventiliation slots/holes on the sill return leg.

An air and moisture barrier applied over sheathing is required and serves as the weather barrier.

The standard joint width is 1/2" but design options are available to allow the joint width to be increased up to 12".  Fit and finish is dependent upon the precision of the installer.

The joint reveal is 4mm MCM material.  Typically, it is the same color as the panel but other available MCM colors can be selected.

Fully tested to current code requirements including AAMA 501.1-83, ASTM E283 (@ 6.24 psf), ASTM E330 (@ 15 psf), and ASTM E331 (@ 40 psf)

A coastal hurricane option of the Universe® 6000 is also available that utilizes intermediate tie-back stiffeners and plywood sheathing.  This version has been tested per ASTM E331 @ 90 psf for structural and per ASTM E1996-02 for the large missile impact.
